Carpenter’s Hall is special because it was the home of the very first congress in 1774, Benjamin Franklin’s Library, as well as the first and second bank. It was a hospital for British and American troops in the Revolutionary War. Carpenter’s Hall was made a national historic landmark in 1970.
The building was designed by Robert Smith. It is a big building with all red bricks. Carpenter’s Hall has a big American flag on the top. It has been the oldest building in America since 1770.
